We are selling our precious and beautifully kept Beneteau Oceanis 390. Our decision comes after a change of circumstances, which forced us to move back to the UK and abandon our boat lifestyle.
Alixora is a 39 foot cruiser with a three cabin, two head layout, where the bow head has been turned into a storage room. Spacious and comfortable for a couple or a family, the galley is positioned abaft the main salon on the starboard side. Navigation desk is positioned opposite the galley on the port side. She is powered by a 45 HP Perkins engine, which sits centre, abaft the companionway.
The slender hull, well-balanced sail plan and a cast iron keel enhance upwind performance and give directional stability and helm balance when heeled. The cockpit is spacious and ergonomic with easy access to winches and other equipment, making Alixora easy to navigate. Rigging and other equipment are in fair condition.
We bought Alixora at the beginning of 2024. Sadly, an unfortunate turn of events made us decide to sell so quickly. She is truly a great boat, amazing to sail and comfortable to live on. After buying we kept up the maintenance and proceeded with upgrades, some quite substantial, such as anti-osmosis treatment and replacement of the domestic battery system. We also completed a full service of the engine, replaced the shaft seal and fixed the rudder bearings. In a recent survey no water damage or signs of osmosis were found. We would be happy to share the whole documentation with any serious prospective buyers.
We had planned to continue with the works while travelling but a couple of them were unfortunately left unfinished. This includes teak seats in the cockpit and the main faucet in the galley. For more details about recent upgrades, please refer to the list below.
We bought Alixora from a local who has had her for a couple of seasons but she spent a big majority of time in the ownership of an older English couple who travelled the Mediterranean. They kept the records of their journey on a blog, an incredible document of Alixora’s past. This was the main reason that convinced us she is the right boat for us, as she has clearly been in good hands before.
The blog may be found here: https://alixora.wordpress.com/
List of recent upgrades (in 2024):
-general engine service
-replacement of rudder bearings
-shaft seal replacement
-new anti-osmosis treatment and antifouling, new anodes
-new chartplotter mounted in the cockpit (Raymarine Element 9) with Navionics charts
-new domestic battery system with smart Victron components
-teak surfaces in the cockpit sanded and filled (this job was left unfinished)
-inspection survey completed before the purchase
Before us, Alixora had even more upgrades, totaling thousands of pounds. Admittedly, there are some things to be looked into but generally she is in a very good condition:
-diesel pump overhauled 2023
-keel bolts changed by a professional boatyard (cost 4960 EUR) 2021
-mainsail and lazyjack, UK Sailmakers (cost 4770 EUR) 2017
-new sprayhood, Marmaris 2016
-Zodiac Cadet 260 Aero inflatable dinghy 2015
-records of older maintenance, receipts and instructions of most equipment onboard were kept and will be available at the viewing
The on-wheel autopilot was damaged in one of our last passages. We were in the midst of ordering a new one when we found out we had to move back to the UK. Same goes for the outboard, which needs a general service. We would be happy to negotiate a new price with any serious buyer to reflect any related costs, or order a full service of the outboard and provide a replacement autopilot system.

In a recent survey no signs of osmosis were found, however a new anti-osmosis treatment and antifouling were applied in June 2024 as the old one clearly had to be stripped back and redone. At her current state, Alixora's bottom doesn't need any work. The are some surface marks above the water line caused by our fenders rubbing against tyres on a dock in Tinos.
